Capuchin(franciscan) Sisters of Nazareth

Catholic Franciscan community of women religious who are apostolic contemplatives.in the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi and St Clare, as they followed Lord Jesus. Following the poor, humble life of the Poverello of Assisi, St. Francis, and in union with the spirit of the Capuchin branch of the Franciscan order, the sisters strive to live a joyful, simple lifestyle. So, "poor in fact but rich in spirit", they entrust themselves to Divine Providence.

I grew up in Tunkhannock (left in 1965 for college and then marriage); I would surely have loved to have these holy sisters around in those days! They remind me so much of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, Our Lady of the Angels Monastery (Mother Angelica's order) in Hanceville, Al. Been there many times, and get "swept away" every time! I haven't been back to Tunkhannock in 10 yrs., and would love to visit the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth. Do you know if they allow visitors? Thanks for your blog!

I am not sure if they allow visitors per se, though I do know that they hold retreats for young women who are discerning a religious life. Sister Kelly would be their point of contact.

And I do believe some of the Sisters do participate in parish missions where they will go out and minister through music and lead the Congregation in singing praises to Our Lord as well as giving inspiring talks. For more information on this I would contact Father Pio Mandato.

Thank you for visiting the blog and God bless you.
