Iraqi Christians
This is a clip from a 1980 documentary on the Silk Road. These are Iraqi Christians near Mousel, one of the oldest Christian communities in the world (dating back to the 1st century AD). Around one million Christians fled Iraq's cities after the war in 2001, which left 400,000 in the villages. They are violently targeted by Islamists and ignored by the US-backed government.
Note: The prayers the monks are reciting in the clip are in Aramaic.
